A clean sweep to cut costs

In a British manufacturer of cosmetic items for private households, various products are mixed with each other on the basis of various formulars in a mixing system to form finished products such as shampoo or detergents. Pumps transport the ingredients to the mixing system. Within this framework, it is indispensable that the viscous products are transported with constant pressure and low-pulsation dosage.

The starting situation
The diaphragm pumps that were used have not always carried out this work to a satisfactory degree. Due to their specific construction, diaphragm pumps pulsate, which has a negative effect on precise dosage.
An alternative was sought: the requirements were that it should enable precise dosage and should also cut costs. A decision was very quickly made to use a progressive cavity pump. This type of pump works almost without pulsation, while it's specific construction is service-friendly and reliable.

The solution
In view of the fact that the replacement of individual pumps would not provide the desired result, the manufacturer decided on a "clean sweep". The company turned to seepex to find a solution. seepex developed an overall solution for the complete system, including on-site commissioning. A total of 18 pumps from the BN range were installed with varing duties, replacing the pulsating and cost-intensive diaphragm pumps.

The benefits
"We are happy that we now have seepex pumps in operation. The pumps run perfectly and match the specified conveying duties."
