WEFTEC Pre-Report

This is the 15th time that seepex has had a stand at WEFTEC, the Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference. In addition to an exhibition the event incorporates many educational sessions, formal presentations and technical paper verbal abstracts. As most professional engineers and plant operators in North America are required to attend continuing education classes to maintain their licenses with state and federal agencies, this event is very popular for water and wastewater treatment professionals. This year the event is in San Diego, CA, the site of one of the largest seepex installations in the Americas. seepex is a co-sponsor of a tour of the regional biosolids treatment plant that is located in the near-by area of Miramar, close to the advanced weapons and training center operated by the US navy and made famous in the movie "Top-Gun". The facility has 38 seepex pumps handling sludge and a variety of chemicals. Some of the thickening centrifuge feed pumps handle flows as high as 1,000 gpm (227 m3/hr). The pumps have been installed for ten years and have experienced minimal maintenance. http://www.weftec.org/
