In the meantime the waste water treatment industry has developed into one of the most important areas with complex mechanical, biological and chemical processes. In this respect seepex progressive cavity pumps and macerators are used in almost all processes.
The sewage is fed into a waste water treatment plant for cleaning. After the cleaning process the treated water is fed back into the ecological cycle. Following the dewatering of the treated sludge, it is disposed of in landfills or further recycled in drying systems, incineration ovens or in agriculture. The requirements that apply to the water and sludge quality are conditional on the local conditions and specific country regulations. However, the regulations are increasingly becoming more stringent and being matched at an international level. To satisfy the high demands regarding neutralisation and filtration, the reduction in organic pollutants and the nitrogen - phosphate elimination, waste water treatment plants are constantly being adjusted in line with current standards.
