With regard to pump designed for the paper and cellulose industry, the shaft seals execution is a very crucial aspect. The gland packing has long been seen as the standard. In this respect a buffer fluid used in the case of increasing requirements reduces the penetration of the conveying medium in the packing, guarantees the lubrication of the shaft and reduces wear-and-tear. This type of shaft seal is cost-effective and sturdy - maintenance is simple. However in the meantime the mechanical seal is increasingly coming into the fore.
