Coal bed methane (CBM) is a natural gas obtained from coal that can be used as an energy source. Fracking extracts CBM from unmined coal seams using vertical or horizontal drilling methods.
Injecting large quantities of liquid into the coal seam increases the pressure, thus releasing the gas. Various pumps are involved in extracting coal bed methane:
- Downhole pumps
- Transfer pumps
- Injection pumps
- Flocculent dosing pumps
The Total Water Management Concept requires economical and environmentally friendly pumps to be used from extraction to water disposal.
SEEPEX progressive cavity pumps are optimized for these various processes and perform successfully in all CBM applications.
