The 6” Model 6DDSX107 Double Disc Pump transports sludge and slurry easily. This is our most common pump size and is a solid workhorse for just about any sludge or slurry application you run across. This pump is routinely used for higher flow primary sludge applications as well as scum, WAS transfer, digested sludge transfer, thickened sludge transfer, truck loading and dewatering feed applications to include: belt press, centrifuge, rotary press, screw press, RDT and GBT feed. This cast iron pump can run dry without damage and has no fouling problems. It has a flow range of up to 550 GPM and can handle up to 2” solids as well as line size semi-solids. This pump operates at speeds up to 400 RPM.

Double Disc Pump - Accessories
We offer a variety of accessory items for Double Disc Pumps to help complete your pump installation, improve the application or make maintenance a little easier. We offer vacuum and pressure sensor and switch assemblies as well as a back pressure valve for low TDH and negative TDH applications. We can also provide pump control panels to include a traditional across the line motor starter or more sophisticated soft start and variable frequency drive (VFD) controls.
Double Disc Pumps - Upgrade and Exchange Program
While we are confident in our pumps’ unmatched durability, reliability and performance, at some point maintenance will be required to keep them operating at optimal performance. That is why at Penn Valley Pump we offer an upgrade/exchange program. You can choose to get an exchange pump identical to the model you have or upgrade to one of the newer models that provide a lower operating speed and improved maintenance features.
Operating Principle of the Double Disc Pump
The Double Disc Pump™ combines the performance features of a positive displacement pump and the principle of ‘induced flow’ to provide versatility in fluid handling. Based on a ‘free disc’ technology, the pump utilizes a unique principle of operation. The pump is based on a non-close tolerance design and is very resistant to wear. With this low friction design the pump can run dry without damage.
