pH Control Depends on Reliable Lime Delivery
A pH control loop can only work as well as the reagent delivery behind it. The probe may be accurate, the control logic may be well tuned, and the setpoint may be correct, but unstable lime milk delivery can still make the process behave unpredictably. If the pump output varies, if lines restrict, or if slurry concentration changes before injection, the process may receive a different dose than the control system expects.
That difference matters because pH response is often delayed, buffered, and influenced by process volume. A short dosing inconsistency may not appear immediately at the measurement point, but it can still affect the chemistry moving through the plant. Operators may then overcorrect, undercorrect, or increase lime addition to compensate for uncertain response. Over time, the system becomes less efficient and harder to trust.
