Slurry Quality Is Built Into the Preparation Step
The quality of lime milk is shaped during preparation. Water addition, mixing intensity, solids concentration, and residence time all influence whether the slurry enters storage as a consistent suspension or as a material that is already prone to variation. If preparation is uneven, the downstream dosing system has to manage a problem it did not create.
This matters because lime milk dosing relies on the relationship between flow and alkalinity. If the slurry concentration is not stable, the same dosing flow can produce different pH responses. A control system may increase pump speed because pH is below target, but the underlying cause may be weak slurry concentration rather than higher process demand. The plant then adjusts the symptom rather than the cause.
